Democracy not Genocide in Sudan – We Need to Act w Sen Chris Van Hollen

We have secured a meeting with Senator Alsobrook’s National Security Advisor on Jan 30 in person in the DC office. This meeting is to prepare our talking points to show that we in Maryland care about human rights everywhere, and that we want action to protect civilians.

We may bring up some points about the US situation as well as events move. This particular event is mainly focused on the extreme violence against Sudanese people.

The Sudanese people have fought hard for democracy but they need our help. More than 150000 people have been killed by the RSF which is funded by the United Arab Emirates – Senator Chris Van Hollen has a bill to help, but we need Sen Alsobrooks to sign on. This meeting is to organize a lobbying effort to align our senators in support of democracy and human rights globally. It relates to our struggle here! The Trump administration is tied to UAE and unwilling to press them on human rights. Please come and add your name, and we may get to meet with some of the staffers.

This a local Indivisible event!

Here is where you’ll describe your local event. Please be specific about important details and include anything a first time attendee, or new group member, might find helpful!

*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
