Join the nationwide day of solidarity with Minnesota.
Friday, January 23 is a National Day of Solidarity and push for corporate accountability led by Minnesota organizers and national allies.
Joyful Resistance is thrilled to host Florida State Representative Christine Hunschofsky (FL-95) for a virtual town hall about the state of the state and the most recently ended legislative session. Getting to know your elected officials is critical for ensuring your voice is heard.
Before being elected State Representative for District 95, she served as Mayor of Parkland and previously as a Parkland City Commissioner. Under her leadership, the City of Parkland won numerous awards including the best city in the state to raise a family. Christine was also a seven-year member of the Parkland Education Advisory Board and served as a member of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Broward League of Cities School and Community Public Safety Task Force.
Her passion for education, economic opportunity, and continuous learning is clear as she holds an undergraduate degree from Boston University and an MBA from Babson College. She has also travelled around the county, state, and country to judge national Speech and Debate Tournaments while spending time to mentor students as well.
Christine testified at the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force on the need for universal background checks before the United State House of Representatives. She continues to prioritize the importance of mental health and serves on the Florida Commission of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder, which was established through her legislation. Her work ethic and solution-oriented approach helped her pass legislation and secure funding appropriations for the district in all four legislative sessions in which she has served.
Rep. Hunschofsky’s priorities for Florida include:
Help our homeowners by working to bring down skyrocketing property insurance rates
Improve public safety and bring common sense gun safety laws
Drive the state to accept additional federal Medicaid dollars to help our uninsured
Enhance our mental health and substance abuse programs
Work to improve our public schools and help attract the best teachers
Fight for the environment and clean water
Protect reproductive rights and safe access to healthcare
A core mission of Joyful Resistance is education and engagement with our elected officials, and this town hall is highly recommended for anyone living in or near Coral Springs.
Bring your questions!! This will be an engaging and informative event!
