  • TIPS: Using Your Cellphone to Document Events & Actions

**Presented by the Video Resource Team of West Seattle Indivisible**

**Pro tips on composition and stabilization: **
Whether you are documenting ICE/whistle actions in your neighborhood, or filming rallies & protests, this hands-on camera workshop will teach techniques and tips to make better and more effective videos. Covers basic rules of framing and practice in breathing/movement techniques to avoid “shaky cam”.

**And teach you how to be safe doing it.**

**Our first step will be to assess how you should film,** depending on

    1. **WHO are you talking to?** (Target Audience: Immigration judges require a different way of filming than the friends you want to inspire on Social Media)

    2. **WHAT is your MESSAGE?** (What is the takeaway for your audience?)

    3. **WHERE will this be seen** (courtroom TV, or on cellphones?)

    4. **CALL-TO-ACTION** (What do you want your audience to DO about it?)

*This hands-on workshop is being held at a West Seattle branch library. You must sign up to find exact location. Space is limited and workshop will fill up.*

**Aimed at a general audience, no experience needed, but even pros will learn some tips (and share some) for working in this current 1st Amendment-endangered climate.**

**The Video Resource Team has made more than 50 videos** in the past year, and have more than 35 years in the industry. [See our videos here](https://www.westseattleindivisible.com/videos)

*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
