2020 will be here sooner than we think.

As of this morning, there are 21 (!!!) Democratic candidates in the race. 21 people running to become the next President of the United States. 21 people ready to prove that they’ve got all of our best interests at heart. And most importantly, 21 people who are ready to unseat Trump.

That’s where the We Are Indivisible Pledge comes in.

Take the Pledge

We’re launching a massive grassroots campaign to get you, every Democratic presidential hopeful, and every activist to sign onto a simple promise: that no matter our differences in the primary, once Democrats have a nominee, we’ll do everything in our power to get the nominee elected.

There are three major parts of the pledge that pertain to all of us:

  • Make the primary constructive. We'll make the primary election about our hopes for the future, and a robust debate of values, vision and the contest of ideas. We’ll remain grounded in our shared values, even if we support different candidates.
  • Rally behind the winner. We'll support the ultimate Democratic nominee, whoever it is—period. No Monday morning quarterbacking. No third-party threats.
  • Do the work to beat Trump. We’re the grassroots army that’s going to power the nominee to victory, and we’ll show up to make calls, knock doors, and do whatever it takes.

It’s exactly the same pledge for every candidate (duh), and we’re asking Indivisibles and activists across the country to sign on too, because the movement has never been led by candidates—it’s always been led by you.

The first step to victory—to beating Trump in 2020—is a primary contest that produces a strong Democratic nominee. And we’re going to be the ones that define what a winning candidate looks like: A candidate who pushes for true progressive values because the grassroots is the heartbeat of their campaign.

Then, we need to win the general election. To do that we’re turning your pledge into action. In true Indivisible fashion, we would never tell you to sign up for something that didn’t have a “to-do.” As part of the campaign, we’re organizing a We Are Indivisible weekend of action, immediately following the Democratic National Convention in July 2020. And you can start planning what that looks like NOW.

One last thing—

This pledge is just a first step (though a very important one.) We are committed to engaging in this primary from now through the convention next summer, pushing on issues that the grassroots care about and holding candidates accountable.

We don't yet know when in the process we'd consider jumping in to support a specific candidate, or whether we'll endorse during the primary at all. But we know that, above all else, we want to ensure that our entire movement is united in supporting the eventual nominee—no matter what.

So if you're all in—take the pledge here now!
