Interest in impeachment is (and has been) growing, and knowing where our movement is on this issue is very important for us in determining our response. We surveyed Indivisibles in groups and on our email list to understand:
How interested they might be in moving forward with impeachment plans
What were their concerns
Is there energy to work on this issue.
We found that Indivisibles are really supportive of House Democrats starting impeachment investigations. 80% of respondents believe Democrats should start impeachment investigations and 75% are willing to invest time and energy in working to make that happen.
3,500 people completed the survey between May 30 and June 3, with 26% of respondents identifying as group members or group leaders. These results are reflective of responses from 49 states plus the District of Columbia. No one from ND and PR responded to this survey. The margin of error is +/- 1.66.
We started our survey asking respondents how they felt about House Democrats initiating impeachment investigations. Overall, respondents are overwhelmingly supportive of moving forward with impeachment investigations. 80% of all respondents support democrats beginning an impeachment investigation.
Respondents generally believe moving forward with impeachment will help Democrats. 50% of all respondents think that Democrats will benefit from this fight and 30% believe it will make no difference.
In an open-ended question section, we asked respondents who expressed support for impeachment about why. Responses largely centered on moral arguments for impeachment:
In addition the asking respondents about their feelings about impeachment, we also asked about how much time folks have to dedicate to impeachment and which tactics are they willing to engage in. Support has grown since April, when we first asked this question. 35% of respondents said they had between 1 and 10 plus hours a week to work on impeachment. This is up by 8 percentage points (pp) from the last time we asked this question.
