Call your Republican Representative and Demand Answers: Did you ask Trump for a presidential pardon after January 6?

On June 9, 2022, the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the Capitol held its first public hearing, and the revelations were explosive. For the first time, we heard that then-President Donald Trump told aides that “maybe our supporters have the right idea” that then-Vice President should be hanged, and that Pence “deserved it”; that Trump knew for a fact that his claims of “voter fraud” were bogus but continued to call for his supporters to come to Washington on January 6 anyway; that Trump’s white supremacist supporters, the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, came to Washington specifically to launch a violent, tactical attack on the Capitol, which they believed they were doing at Trump’s behest; and, perhaps most galling, that Republican Members of Congress contacted the White House just weeks after January 6 to request presidential pardons for their role in the insurrection.

The attack on our Capitol on January 6, 2021 was an unimaginable attack on our democracy and the peaceful transfer of power. And now we know that Republican members of our government were actively involved in this attack, and did everything in their power to get away with it. We need to know who they are. We must know who exactly attacked our Capitol, and we must hold them accountable.

Call your Republican Representative and demand answers: Did you ask Trump for a presidential pardon after January 6?

Hello, I’m a constituent from [part of state] and I’m very concerned about the revelations from the January 6 committee’s public hearings that members of our own government played a role in this attack on our democracy. I’m particularly shocked to hear that some Republican Members of Congress sought pardons from Trump in the aftermath of January 6, hoping to avoid accountability for their role in the insurrection. This is unacceptable and a violation of the oath that all Members of Congress take when they are sworn into office.

I demand to know: Did Representative [NAME] ask Donald Trump for a pardon after January 6?
