Charles Booker

State: Kentucky

Elected Office: U.S. Senator

Reason for Endorsement:

Charles Booker is a long-term movement builder with a deep dedication to fighting for justice. Born and raised in one of the poorest zip codes in Kentucky, he has fought his whole life to make Kentucky a more just and fair state for all its residents. He’s ready to fight in the Senate for policies that will guarantee financial freedom, provide universal healthcare, create good paying union jobs, enable a just transition to renewable energy and ensure that every child has an education that can take them to the heights of success without saddling them with overwhelming debt.

In 2020, Charles Booker ran an historic campaign to be the first Black man to represent Kentucky in the U.S. Senate. Before that, he was the youngest Black legislator in the Kentucky House of Representatives in 90 years, championing progressive legislation on voting rights, labor laws, and racial justice. In the wake of Breonna Taylor’s murder at the hands of police in 2020, he was a leading voice demanding justice. We were proud to endorse him in 2020 and are proud again to endorse him in his 2022 run for the U.S. Senate. Charles Booker is ready to fight for all Kentuckians – white, Black, and brown, rural, suburban, and urban – and take a stand for the justice and humanity of everyone in Kentucky.

Charles Booker is ready to bring real leadership with long-term vision to Kentucky. Kentucky Indivisibles are ready to build power with him and we’re so excited to join them with this endorsement.

Indivisible Danville nominated Charles Booker for a national endorsement. If you would like to join the group or get involved, you can find them on Facebook or Twitter.
