Representative Katie Porter and her whiteboard of truth have brought a new and powerful voice to Congress, one that strongly represents Indivisible’s commitment to ethics and transparency in government. A single working mother of three, she has a deep understanding of the challenges that working families face, decades of experience in financial oversight and consumer advocacy, and an unrivaled ability to explain complex financial issues in a clear and relatable way.
Before coming to Congress, Katie taught bankruptcy law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, and served as California’s independent watchdog against the banks. Her take-no-prisoners questioning of powerful CEOs has quickly become the stuff of legend, along with her use of visual aids, as when she used 500 pounds of rice to represent acres of public land already open to oil drilling. And her strong pressure on the Trump Administration led to COVID testing being free nationwide, an important win for public health.
By making sure Katie returns to Washington in 2022, we can continue our fight for the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, higher wages for workers, and ethics reform. She’s committed to holding powerful special interests accountable on behalf of her district’s families, and building a fairer and more equitable financial system for all of us.
Indivisible OC 45 nominated Rep. Katie Porter for a national endorsement. If you would like to join the group or get involved, you can find them on Facebook.
