Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez

State: New Mexico

Elected Office: U.S. Representative

Candidate District: NM-03

Reason for Endorsement:

Teresa Leger Fernandez is a 17th generation New Mexican and daughter of New Mexico who has seen first-hand how rural working families have been left behind. In her first term in Congress, she has delivered millions in funding to plug up orphan wells, expand rural broadband access, expand rural hospitals and health centers, improve affordable housing, and bring clean water to Navajo communities. Re-electing her will ensure rural communities across the country continue to see progress like lower healthcare costs, higher quality education, and cleaner air and water.

She is a climate champion and fierce advocate for the preservation of public lands because all people, present and future, have a right to clean air, water, and the outdoors. Throughout the disastrous wildfires that have ravaged northern New Mexico this April and May, Teresa has been on the ground responding to the needs of her communities and acted quickly to secure vital federal aid to rebuild and support displaced families. She understands that the climate crisis isn’t some distant problem to be left for tomorrow, but something to be urgently addressed in order to have a tomorrow.

Teresa Leger Fernandez hit the ground running in her first term and knows what it takes to deliver for her district and the country. She is a progressive champion who we’re proud to stand behind.
