Local Indivisible groups build and wield power in ways that individuals can’t. To create change, you need the collective constituent power that comes with working together, as Indivisibles.

Indivisibles organize -- which means building power and flexing at key moments. Indivisible Groups take action in their communities, build collective purpose, and create change.

We make calls. We show up. We organize. And we’ve built lasting collective power across the country, in our home towns. We’re Indivisible.

We’re a grassroots movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.

Demand Your Senators Pass the Heroes Act Now

On September 10th, Senate Democrats successfully stopped the grossly inadequate Republican “skinny” relief package from being passed. The bill included no additional funding for election security, did nothing to stop the sabotage of the post office, slashed unemployment insurance income, and protected corporations from accountability lawsuits. This is absolutely unacceptable. Senate Republicans are blatantly ignoring the urgent needs of vulnerable families across America..

That’s why we need you to call your Senators and demand that they pass the HEROES Act immediately without watering it down. Working families are struggling to make ends meet. We need every protection in the HEROES Act to pass or lives will be at stake. We must demand that McConnell stop jeopardizing the lives of millions of struggling families by trying to push through an insufficient relief bill, and blocking a Senate vote on the far more robust HEROES Act to provide needed relief for families facing financial stress and uncertainty.

On August 8th, Trump announced four Executive Orders to distract from his failure to negotiate a relief package. Trump’s EOs:

  • Rob funding from Social Security and Medicare by delaying payroll taxes on corporations
  • Cut the current $600 a week unemployment benefit (also included in the Heroes Act) by at least $200 a week for people who need it the most
  • Offers minimal protections to renters and homeowners facing eviction, and fails to offer any financial assistance, meaning past due rent bills simply pile up.
  • Fail to provide any money for safe, secure elections or the United States Postal Service during the pandemic and instead, the Trump Administration announced a new tactic to slow USPS service, including mail-in voting, by mandating states pay almost triple the previous cost to send absentee ballots to voters on time.

House Democrats passed the fourth coronavirus package, the HEROES Act, nearly 4 months ago. The bill improves significantly on the CARES Act, especially on democracy and protections for immigrants, and provides additional financial relief and public health measures. Some of the items included are:

  • $3.6 billion in election funding to expand vote by mail and safe in-person voting locations
  • $25 billion in funding for the United States Postal Service
  • Additional $1,200 payments to individuals, including immigrants and dependents over the age of 16
  • A moratorium on evictions and foreclosures
  • Expanded paid/sick/family leave for all workers
  • Free testing and treatment for all, including immigrants regardless of status

The HEROES Act will save countless lives and ensure working families are able to weather this recession, but Senate Republicans are refusing to meet the moment. Instead they proposed the HEALS Act, a bill that includes no funding for election security or the post office and slashes unemployment insurance income. The HEALS Act also protects corporations from accountability lawsuits, contains $30 billion for defense, and even includes $1.7 billion for a new FBI Headquarters that would conveniently benefit the Trump Hotel in D.C.

Trump’s list of inadequate COVID response EOs are not enough and instead of bringing the House-passed HEROES Act up for a vote in the Senate, Mitch McConnell tried to push through an unacceptably insufficient “skinny” relief package on September 10th. Though Senate Democrats successfully voted down the Republican bill, Senate Republicans continue to  blatantly ignore the urgent needs of vulnerable families across America. That’s why we need you to call your Senators and demand that they pass the HEROES Act immediately without watering it down. Working families are struggling to make ends meet. We need every protection in the HEROES Act to pass or lives will be at stake.

Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I am from [CITY/STATE]. I’m calling Sen. The bill includes necessary protections to keep people on payrolls, provide financial relief, protect our public health, and defend democracy. Sen. [SENATOR NAME] should take a stand against Mitch McConnell’s continued effort to block a vote on the HEROES Act, which will provide critical relief to struggling families. [SENATOR NAME] should immediately pass the HEROES Act and oppose any amendments to water down the bill. People are struggling to make ends meet. We need every protection in the HEROES Act to pass or lives will be at stake.
