On Sunday, Feb 15th, starting at 4PM, members of the local community will gather for a vigil and a peaceful protest against the Violence of ICE/CBP/ and other federal agencies. The event aims to honor those affected and emphasize resistance to this behavior as the “new” normal. This is part of a nationwide series of events through the Disappeared in America Project as well as the efforts of local Rev. Dr. Leah Ntuala, who encourages people across the country to come together to show love and solidarity with immigrant communities—and to reject the violent, intrusive, and unlawful tactics being carried out by the Trump Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The demonstration will include a candlelight vigil, a reading of a list of names, and a die-in. Representations of gravestones and candles will be used to individually recognize the lives lost through the tactics embraced by Rep. Tenney and the Trump administration.
Parking is available on nearby side streets Kepner Rd. and Aroline Rd. Parking is restricted in the plaza, and cars may be towed.
