Nonviolent Movements Depend on Deescalating Tensions

Experts in movements to overturn authoritarians and dictators teach us that we must be committed to nonviolence to build broad-based participation, maintain moral legitimacy, and strategically undermine the pillars that keep authoritarian systems in place.

Let’s continue to train and practice these vital skills that we can all use in our personal lives, on the curbs at rallies and when we talk across the political aisle to encourage people to vote for their own best interests in the midterm elections.
