Deliver Letter to Senator Wyden and Merkley: Rein In ICE NOW

#### ICE has continued to escalate it’s cruelty and our communities are not safe. We won’t stand around while our communities are terrorized. Individuals and organizations around the country are demanding that Congress answer our call to get ICE Out for Good.

#### Join us on the steps of the Eugene Courthouse as we hand-deliver the below letter to Senator Wyden and Merkley. We have an appointment to deliver the letter at 12 pm. We will have a limited group that can go inside the courthouse, but we would love to have a large group outside to emphasize how critical it is to get ICE Out for GOOD.There will be speeches, sign waving, and the opportunity for those who haven’t signed the petition online, to sign it in person.

To The Honorable Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, United States Senators:

The American people have watched in horror as events have unfolded in DC, Chicago, Portland and now Minneapolis. We are outraged. We are grief-stricken. But we are not afraid. And we will not be silent. We will never be silent.
Congress must use every tool available to end this lawless violence. You, as Senators, have an opportunity to do so on January 30, 2026.

We, the undersigned, as Oregonians, and as Americans, hereby demand:

1. That you oppose any appropriations bill that includes increased funding for ICE or the Border Patrol.
2. That you refuse to vote for any funding bill for DHS unless it:
1. strengthens restrictions on ICE and Border Patrol to conduct dragnet operations that target people based on their race, language, accent, place of employment or location;
2. ends ICE and Border Patrol deployment to our cities;
3. limits their ever-expanding mandate in immigration enforcement;
4. limits DHS programming and transfer authority, including transferring funds for detention; and
5. ends the anonymity of ICE and Border Patrol by prohibiting masks and requiring explicit identification.

In short, Senators, we need you to grab the leash on these rabid dogs and yank it tight. Every member of Congress who hopes to survive the midterms must insist on real limits and accountability. Now.

Sincerely and In Solidarity,

The undersigned
