ICE Out for Good PITTSBURGH – MN Solidarity Day of Action

On Friday, January 23, Indivisible Pittsburgh, Casa San Jose, SEIU, PA United, Pittsburgh Women for Democracy, 1Hood, Alliance for Police Accountability, Bend the Arc: Jewish Action Pittsburgh, Commonwealth of Oakland, Indivisible Regent Square, local faith leaders and our local grassroots partners will host a peaceful action in East Liberty, demanding that Target speak out and stop collaborating with ICE.

We will gather first at the East Liberty Presbyterian Church for a training, following which we will march to the East Liberty Target. There, a group of faith and labor leaders, along with immigrant justice advocates, will enter the Target store to demand that Target cease collaboration with ICE. There will be the opportunity for a peaceful in-store action or to be part of a sidewalk demonstration. We will then reconvene and debrief at the church.

PLEASE dress for the weather. It will be cold.

Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On January 8, Customs and Border Patrol agents abducted two American citizens working a shift at the Richfield, MN Target store. These actions are part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.

A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for a coordinated Ice Out For Good actions on Friday, January 23rd in solidarity for Minnesota, and to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.

A core principle behind all ICE Out For Good events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property.
