  • Immigrants Help Build America – Shawnee St Patrick’s Day Parade

Got a dream to take us here, we came to America.

Celebrate how immigrants have built a vibrant culture, economic opportunity and a better America by marching in the Johnson County Irish Club’s St Patricks Day parade in Downtown Shawnee.

Immigrants are people and should not be treated as criminals.

Participants are welcome to bring flags and signs celebrating their personal immigrant heritage. Participants are also encouraged to pin a paper tag on their shirt indicating their heritage symbolic of the labels some immigrants wore as they came through immigration.

We are also looking for folks to hand out candy and potentially cards inviting them to participate in future events. We also have a number of US and foreign flags available for participants to carry. Please email the organizers with your interest.

Questions or additional ideas for the event email: wagamerica2024@gmail.com

The parade starts at 1 PM with line up beginning at 1130, look for the United Nations flag at approximately Johnson Drive and Long. Please plan to arrive by 1240 so we can get organized..

If you enter a mobile number at registration this will help in communicating the meeting point before the parade.

The parade route covers 1/2 mile and is mostly down hill. Please see the map of the route at this link https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1y23rFkdWaZvM85hyP38Q_qNetzczSLE&usp=sharing

*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
