Start your week off getting in “Some Good Trouble”! Join us for an overpass visibility event in Oakland over Hwy-13 @Joaquin Miller/Lincoln Mountain/Monterey.
We’ll use huge letters to spell out an inspiring message for passing cars during the morning commute and wave to cars honking in support. Bring your signs as we will also be on the four corners waving to drivers as they pass by.

Here’s what you need to know:
– Street parking is available on Mountain Blvd. and Joaquin Miller. Parking on Woodminster is available but meters start at 8:00 a.m.
– It can be cool and windy on the overpass.
– Photos and video of this event may be shared publicly. If you’d rather not appear in photos/video, please tell the organizer (Jenny).
– ** If police or counter-protesters visit the event: Rather than engage with them yourself, please let the organizer (Jenny) speak with them. If you’re comfortable doing so, take video of the interaction from a safe distance. **
– We use whistles on the overpass to signal “help” or “heads up.” To avoid confusion, we do not use whistles as protest noisemakers.
– Take care not to drop anything through the fence onto the roadway. Hold pompoms, signs, flags, etc inside — not through — the fencing.
– Be aware of traffic on the overpass. The intersection is very busy, with school traffic in both directions, and there are limited crosswalks. For safety, always cross in the crosswalk and do not jaywalk.
– Note that flying a drone over the freeway (i.e., to take photos/video) is not permitted.
– Overpass visibility is a practice of nonviolent civil resistance. By participating in IEBOVB actions, you are indicating that you will refrain from violence.
