  • Remake the Party from the Block Up: Join Our County Committee Info Sessions

This event is hosted by an individual group or partner org and not vetted by Indivisible National.

Ready to turn the Queens Democratic Party into a true activist force? Forest Hills Indivisible is hosting THREE ONLINE organizing meetings to help you seize the most direct lever of local power: The County Committee. Join us to learn how to get on the ballot and start lead the charge.

    Why the County Committee Matters

If we want a Democratic Party that is responsive, bold, and capable of driving voters to the polls, we have to build it from the foundation. In our Assembly District alone, there are 144 seats—two for every small Election District (usually just 1–3 city blocks).

These aren’t just titles; these members hold the keys to the borough’s political operation. As a member, you help decide:

The “Party Line”: Who gets the official endorsement, funding, and prime ballot placement.

Special Elections: When an Assembly member or Senator resigns, the Committee—not the public—votes on the nominee.

The Leadership: You elect the County Chair and the executive committee that sets the rules and policy positions for the entire party.

The Reality: A Culture of “Rubber Stamps” – Right now, the Queens Democratic Party only holds a full meeting once every two years. Many seats sit empty or are filled by proxies who never show up. This isn’t just a missed opportunity; it’s a system designed to disenfranchise our community.

We are changing that. We are filling all 144 seats with activists who actually want the party to work for the people.

The Path to the Ballot (It’s Easier Than You Think) – These seats are up for election in the June primary, and most are completely uncontested. To get your name on the ballot, you only need signatures from 5% of the registered Democrats in your immediate neighborhood—typically just 40 to 60 names.

The Petitioning Window: Now through April 2nd.

The Support: Forest Hills Indivisible will be with you every step of the way, providing the tools and training you need to collect those signatures and win.

The time to remake the party is now. Don’t just vote—lead.
