Support Transparency Ordinance at City Council

# The Ask
Advocate for Transparency in City Council on Monday, March 2nd.

## WHEN AND WHERE?
The meeting is Monday, March 2nd at 7pm at City Hall (300 N High St.). Please arrive no later than 6:45pm to sign in for public comment.

## WHAT ARE THE ISSUES?
### Issue #1: The fight for the Transparency Ordinance continues. Councilperson Nora Powell has submitted a new version of this ordinance after the previous version was drastically altered through an amendment and ultimately failed to be adopted. Public support for this ordinance (in large part thanks to Muncie Resisters!) has been widespread and sustained. Let’s continue showing up and advocating for transparent, accountable governance. See a more detailed summary and potential talking points [here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UkoddLLp5GNI6s33zXWDZ2bZl3y61_oMryAZ6i5-FgA/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.uh9ofnhul49d).

### Issue #2: The majority of Council President Green’s new, restrictive rules on public comment remain. (Almost immediately at the February meeting, Green walked back one of the new rules–the requirement for all speakers to state their home address.) Let’s continue speaking out against these rules. See a more detailed summary and potential talking points [here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ApKmNRqb3Nmu-HlxzyvlsrY-JgbHUOArx3cpu9dWk2E/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.tqbi6ecfys7v).

## PREPARING YOUR REMARKS
The talking points provided in both documents provide a sample script if you find points that resonate with you. We will also have several options for sample scripts printed out at the meeting. If you would like a sample script, look for Alex or Ellen prior to the start of the meeting. They plan to sit in one of the back rows on the left-hand side of the auditorium.

_Important Note!:_ Under these new restrictions on public input, comments are limited to two minutes and no input is allowed for ordinances up for introduction. As a result, comments on both issues MUST be given during the public comment section, which is now at the beginning of meetings. Given the time-sensitive nature of the Transparency Ordinance (which will be going up for a vote that night), we recommend focusing on Issue #1 if you feel you only have time to speak on one.
