Georgia Indivisibles have been preparing for a runoff election for weeks. We knew the timeline between General Election and Runoff would be short, so we are focusing our Get Out The Vote tactics on ones that allow us to reach voters as directly as possible, knowing that voter education around the runoff and helping voters make a plan to vote are some of the most important things we can do.
Georgia Runoff: How Indivisibles Can Get Involved
Join one of our national phonebanks with Gaslit Nation or phonebank on your own schedule with Open Virtual Phonebank!
Donate to directly support our work!
- You can donate to our National GA Runoff Program. This will fund things like mailers to rural progressive voters, technology for national phonebanks and text messages, financial support for out of state canvassers to come to Georgia, and more.
- You can donate directly to our local groups through the Indivisible Georgia Coalition. These funds will support the community-based work our local Indivisible groups in Georgia are leading to win this runoff and advocate for inclusive democracy year-round.
Postcards and Letters
With the election only days away, there are no more postcard- or letter-writing opportunities for the GA runoff.
Travel to Georgia to canvass with us!
Indivisibles from around the country – but especially in southern states bordering Georgia – are invited to come canvass with us between Friday, November 25th and Election Day, Tuesday, December 6th!
We will provide funding for your travel, food, and lodging; all training and materials for canvassing will be provided on-site.
- If you would like to come to Georgia to canvass with Indivisible, please fill out this interest form here.
- If you would like more information on this program and Canvassing 101 training, please attend our upcoming Georgia Run-off Neighbor States Mobilization Call on November 28.
Financial Support for Volunteers
If you are organizing a group to join virtual Indivisible phonebanks to call Georgia voters, we have some funds available to help with event costs.
We can provide funding for things like refreshments for volunteers (not alcohol) and event supplies like pens, sign in sheets, etc. If you need anything printed, it CANNOT include any mention of a political party, candidate, campaign, or political issue. You'll need to upload a picture of what you had printed. The Reimbursement Request Form is here. The deadline for submission is December 16.
If you want help with these expenses but don’t want to buy them yourself, you can request we purchase them for you via the Indivisible Prepaid Request Form. Please note, we will do our best to process these as quickly as we can, but can’t guarantee a quick turnaround time.
Opportunities for Volunteers in Georgia
Canvass in your Neighborhood
Neighbor2Neighbor is designed to make turning out voters in your community quick & easy. Once you sign up, we will send you a list of up to 5 likely progressives near you, a short script, best practices, and an optional printout to leave if they aren't home. Then? You just knock on your five neighbors' doors and remind them to vote.
Neighbor2Neighbor makes canvassing convenient, accessible, and it’s less intimidating socially than traditional canvassing
Sign up for your list of neighbors at indivisi.org/neighbor2neighbor.
Group Canvassing Events
Local Indivisible groups in Georgia can schedule canvasses using Indivisible’s MiniVAN and approved fliers.
If you are an individual
You can see all scheduled Indivisible canvasses and RSVP on Mobilize here. If there are no canvasses near you, you can take part in our “Out-of-State Canvassing Mobilization” program to travel within Georgia as well.
If you would like more information on this program and Canvassing 101 training, please attend one of our upcoming Georgia Run-off Neighbor States Mobilization Calls on Monday November 21 or November 28.
If you are a group leader interested in organizing canvasses for your local group
Staff can assist with recruitment and canvassing training/logistics as needed.
Timeline & How to access: This is available NOW through December 6th for all registered Indivisible groups in Georgia. Please let us know at least 3-4+ days ahead of your canvassing event so we have time to cut the turf and ship you lit if needed.
Email email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org with the date(s) of your canvasses, how many people you anticipate being at each so we know how many turfs to provide, and if you will need any training or recruitment assistance from Indivisible staff.
Bobby, our National VAN Manager, will you get your turf.
Abby will make sure you have enough of our lit and any training/assistance needed.
Canvass 40 Doors on your Schedule
Indivisible is providing canvassing lists and lit to volunteers in Georgia.
What is it? We will give you a list number to enter into MiniVAN anywhere in the state, and the nearest 40 doors will appear. These will be likely Democratic voters, but it’s always possible someone in the household will have different political views than us. We will ship you fliers to hand to each voter/leave at each door.
Why should you try it? “Distributed” canvassing is great for people who want to canvass on their own time, do smaller amounts at once (e.g. 30 minutes, 10 doors), and are going to have trouble making it to scheduled canvassing events
Timeline & How to access: email email@example.com anytime until December 5 expressing interest and Abby will coordinate getting you the lit and any training needed.
- Please let us know at least 3-4+ days ahead of your canvassing event so we have time to ship you lit if needed.
- If you are a group leader, you will get the lit sent to you and be responsible for distributing it to & ensuring any group members who take part are trained. Another note for group leaders: this doesn’t take capacity away from your group! In fact, it allows more of your members to engage in a few, flexible, and independent way
- Individuals wanting to utilize this program can email firstname.lastname@example.org; we are requiring people be “trained” in order to make sure we vet everyone using our program and bad actors do not sneak in
Financial Support is available both from Indivisible National and the Indivisible Georgia Coalition.
We have funding available to help cover mileage costs and meals via reimbursement. Meals (excluding alcohol) are capped at $75 per day that you are traveling to and from canvassing locations and volunteering. You will need to upload pictures of itemized meal receipts to request reimbursement. We can also cover mileage at $0.625 per mile. We’ll need your starting address, ending address (your assigned staging location), and any other destinations along your route.
If you need masks or other PPE or other basic supplies, you can also submit those items for reimbursement with receipts.
To request these funds, wait until you receive your assigned canvassing staging location. We will book a hotel room for you if requested on your interest form. To request meal and mileage reimbursement, submit the Reimbursement Request Form by December 16 or sooner (this is a hard deadline).
If you can only get to Georgia by train, bus, or plane, please send an email to Shay, Katie, and Becca with your departure city, arrival city, dates, and phone number: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com
If you would like to receive funds from the Indivisible Georgia Coalition, either to reimburse or pay up-front for expenses you will incur related to the GA Runoff, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the details of your request.
