Washington, DC — Today, Indivisible announced its endorsement of Jon Hoadley in the race for in Michigan’s Sixth Congressional District:

"Jon Hoadley knows that the challenges we face require bold action and fresh ideas. Jon is a proud supporter of Medicare for All, because getting sick doesn’t have to mean going broke,” said IE Political Director Lucy Solomon. “He supports a Green New Deal to bring thousands of good-paying green jobs to the district and transition away from fossil fuels to a clean energy economy. And he knows we need to end the influence of corporations and dark money in our elections."

Hoadley would become Michigan’s first openly gay Congressman. Hoadley is one of the few openly gay members of the Michigan state legislature and has been a champion for equality. Running against a Republican incumbent who regularly votes against legislation that would protect the LGBTQ community, Jon would give a voice in Congress to over 300,000 LGBTQ people across Michigan.

"Jon is truly compassionate about his community and is a hard-worker. He takes on projects that make a difference in the lives of the constituents and works across the aisle to get things done," said Danee Kaplan of Indivisible Kalamazoo Squad. "Jon has immense experience related to the position he is seeking and is a three-term state representative. Jon is openly gay, a strong advocate for LBGTQ+ rights who will improve diversity in the House."

To earn Indivisible's national endorsement, a candidate must clear a tough three-stage process that requires broad support from local Indivisible group members at multiple points. All endorsed candidates must have a strong progressive platform aligned with our movement's values and the enthusiastic support of informed energized voters in their district.

Indivisible Kalamazoo Squad is a locally-led progressive grassroots group responsible for nominating Jon Hoadley for Indivisible Action's national endorsement. The group is led by Danee Kaplan. To learn more about their work, future events, and their endorsement process, please contact:
