ENDORSED CANDIDATE

Tammy Savoie

State: Louisiana

Elected Office: U.S. Representative

Reason for Endorsement:

Dr. Savoie grew up in Jefferson Parish where her parents—a merchant marine and a homemaker—worked hard to instill in their five children the value of service and perseverance.

Inspired to serve her country, Dr. Savoie enlisted in the Louisiana Air National Guard as a security specialist while she studied psychology at the University of New Orleans.

A single mom with a baby on her hip and a Ph.D. under her belt, Dr. Savoie went on active duty as an Air Force psychologist, treating servicemembers and their families at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

Stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan, Dr. Savoie served as Chief of Psychological Services where she created drug abuse prevention programs rated "exceptional" by the U.S. Army.

As Mental Health Flight Commander at Laughlin Air Force Base, Dr. Savoie formed the first-ever Critical Incident Stress Team, coordinating the city's emergency response teams, Border Patrol, and base agencies to provide crisis intervention services to the base and community.

Dr. Savoie was appointed Deputy Commander of the Air Force's research office in London, UK, where she led a team discovering revolutionary science.

Stationed at the Pentagon, Dr. Savoie deployed to Afghanistan to improve mental health services for our troops. She then traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, providing medical planning and educational services.

Dr. Savoie retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 22 years with the Air Force. She now provides mental health services to veterans and the Red Cross and is an adjunct professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
