Tell the Senate to Pass Marriage Equality Bill Now!

UPDATE: Republicans in the Senate blocked passage of the Right to Contraception Act on July 27th. There’s still hope for the Senate to pass the Respect for Marriage Act, if we make it clear to Republican Senators that they will be jeopardizing their careers by voting against marriage equality in the year 2022.

On July 19th & 21st, 2022, the House passed two critically important bills: the Respect for Marriage Act & the Right to Contraception Act, which will codify into federal law the rights for same-sex and interracial marriage and access to contraception. Both garnered every single Democrat voting in support of the bills, and unsurprisingly mostly all but a handful of Republican Congress Members voted against the bills.

In the Dobbs decision from the extreme far-right Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas made the Courts’ intent clear, they are going to continue striking down fundamental rights like access to contraception, marriage equality, and much more. This is why Congressional action to codify those rights into federal law is extremely important!

It’s important that we are honest with you: It is going to be very difficult to get 10 Republican Senators to vote for marriage equality, in order to circumvent the Republican filibuster. HOWEVER, we know that certain Republicans understand that voting against protections for same-sex and interracial marriage would be extremely unpopular and they would face backlash from their constituents. That’s why a handful of Republicans in the House voted with Democrats on this bill. We need you to let them know you are watching!

Fill out this form right now and we’ll connect you to your Senator. Let them know you want them to pass the Respect for Marriage Act immediately. We can’t afford to wait while our fundamental rights are being stripped before our very eyes, like with abortion rights.

Protect our right to same-sex and interracial marriage

Hello, I’m a constituent from [part of state] and I am very concerned about the Supreme Court’s clear intention to rule back protections for marriage equality. I am calling to ask [Senator] to support the House-passed bill: The Respect for Marriage Act.

There’s no time to waste. We need the Senate to act now by codifying into federal law protections for same-sex and interracial marriage.

Will [Senator] vote to pass these two bills? I’ll be watching to ensure my Senator moves quickly to pass legislation guaranteeing equal protection under the law for same-sex and interracial couples.

THANK YOU! Created with Sketch. THANK YOU!

Your call in support of protecting people's right to contraception and protection for marriage equality makes all the difference! Call as many times as you can today and tell all your friends to call as well!
