Winning an Inclusive Recovery in the House

UPDATE: The White House is trying to force a vote on the inadequate Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (BIF) in order to claim they have taken action on climate as they head to the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Let us be clear, BIF is not a climate bill. It does nothing to address the climate crisis and instead focuses small dollar funding on physical infrastructure projects like roads and bridges. It is shameful that the White House is trying to pretend BIF is meaningful action on climate. What is needed is the inclusive reconciliation bill which would drastically cut emissions, create millions of climate jobs, center environmental justice, and make historic investments in a clean energy economy in addition to delivering on many other progressive priorities.

We need you to Call your Representative and tell them to temporarily vote NO on BIF until Congress has passed the inclusive reconciliation package that was promised to the American people. d Back Better agenda. And conservative Democrats have to feel pressure from constituents demanding they stop holding our priorities hostage.

Progressives in Congress held strong before withholding their votes for BIF and they need our help once again. We need to make sure they know we have their backs, and we need to grow their strength by encouraging more MoCs to join them in holding the line for the full Build Back Better agenda. And conservative Democrats have to feel pressure from constituents demanding they stop holding our priorities hostage.

As a reminder, here’s what we’re fighting for:

  • A pathway to citizenship for millions of immigrants;
  • Lowering drug prices, swiftly expanding Medicare to cover vision, dental, and hearing, without copays and lowering the eligibility age to 60 years old;
  • Investments in Climate, including a Clean Electricity Performance Program (with no fossil fuels!) and a fully funded Civilian Climate Corps;
  • Investments in the Care Economy, including universal child care, federally guaranteed paid leave for all, and creating good jobs in the home and community based-care sector;
  • Investments in housing, especially deeply affordable housing and housing for unhoused populations; and
  • Address extreme wealth inequality by taxing the ultra rich and big corporations so they finally pay their fair share.

Fill out this form right now and we’ll connect you to your Representative. Let them know you expect them to support an inclusive recovery package, and temporarily vote NO on BIF until Congress passes an inclusive reconciliation bill.

Winning an Inclusive Recovery

Hello, I’m a constituent from [part of state] and I want [Representative] to vote no on BIF until Congress passes inclusive recovery through reconciliation.

We urgently need a recovery bill that lowers prescription drug prices for all Americans, swiftly expands Medicare without copays, provides a path to citizenship, and includes generational investments in climate, housing, and the care economy - all while making the ultra rich and big corporations pay their fair share. This cannot take a back seat to an inadequate bipartisan bill.

Will [Representative] commit to passing an inclusive reconciliation bill before voting on the bipartisan infrastructure package? We need the full recovery agenda, and I’ll be watching to ensure they are fighting for it.

THANK YOU! Created with Sketch. THANK YOU!

Thank you for calling on your Representative to ensure we pass an inclusive recovery through reconciliation! Call as many times as you can today and tell all your friends to call as well!
