  • Indivisible-Endorsed Candidate Rep. Analilia Mejia is the Democratic Nominee for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District

    Jun 2, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In April, Montclair Sundays Indivisible and SOMA Action formally endorsed Rep. Analilia Mejia, and she was nominated to Indivisible for our national endorsement. Shortly after, Indivisible endorsed Rep. Analilia Mejia in the Democratic primary for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 11th congressional district because at a moment when our communities are under attack, voters are demanding a Democratic Party willing to fight back. That demand is shaping the future of the party — and it starts in the primaries with candidates like Rep. Analilia Mejia.

Today, Rep. Analilia Mejia won her primary to officially become the Democratic nominee for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district and will face Joe Hathaway in November.

Following her successful special election, Rep. Analilia Mejia’s primary victory is a win for working people and grassroots organizing. Throughout her career, Mejia has turned movement-building into tangible victories for working families — from winning paid sick leave and higher wages to taking on powerful interests and helping shape national labor policy. Her success demonstrates that voters are looking for leaders who will challenge entrenched power, fight corruption, and put everyday people ahead of political insiders and corporate interests.

“Tonight, Democratic voters in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District reaffirmed their support for a leader who has spent her career fighting and winning for working people. Rep. Analilia Mejia has built a record of turning grassroots organizing into meaningful change — from winning paid sick leave and higher wages to taking on entrenched interests and helping shape national labor policy. Since arriving in Congress, she has continued to bring that same commitment to standing up for working families and holding the powerful accountable.

“At a moment when too many politicians are focused on protecting the well-connected, Rep. Analilia Mejia has shown that the government can work for everyday people. She offers a clear contrast to Joe Hathaway and the MAGA agenda he supports, putting affordability, economic opportunity, and democratic accountability at the center of her work. As we look toward November, we are proud to stand with Rep. Analilia Meija in the fight to defend this seat and continue delivering the bold leadership New Jersey families deserve,” said Ezra Levin, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible.

    Indivisible’s 2026 Primary Program

Last November, after Senate Democrats surrendered and voted to end the 41-day government shutdown without securing any commitments to lower health care costs or protect working families, Indivisible announced its largest primary program in the movement’s history. This program aims to turn the page on the failed leadership of Democrats like Senator Schumer, and identify and support fighters who will challenge feckless incumbents — to fight, not fold, in the face of fascism.

Indivisible will continue to work with local groups to support additional candidates in competitive primaries across the country. In the coming months, Indivisible will direct its network of activists, volunteers, and resources to help these endorsed candidates win their primaries, scaling phone banks, text programs, and canvassing efforts to unprecedented levels for the 2026 cycle.
