Why is the program ending?

We’re sunsetting Courage Collectives because we’ve seen a significant drop in program participation, and that, combined with our internal need to staff up our election protection and defense teams, led to this hard decision.

Does that mean Indivisible has lost faith in noncooperation and pillar work?

No! We believe wholeheartedly in the power of grassroots noncooperation to block acceptance of fascistic demands, especially when our legal and political systems fail us. We’re looking at developing related programming in 2027.

What does “program sunset” actually mean?

Ending the program means we will no longer be hosting Courage Collective instructional calls, registering new Collectives, or providing new Courage Collective materials. The Courage Collective page will remain live for now, and we hope you will continue to organize actions of noncooperation.

We want to keep going! What do you recommend we do?

To access the full range of Indivisible’s supports, including funding, trainings and materials, you can:

Continue your work as an action team within your Indivisible group, and use our Indivisible resources
Or join an existing local Indivisible Team (find options here), and do your work with support from that community and Indivisible’s resources
Or register your Collective as a new Indivisible group

Continue to connect with national and local organizations in your pillar, both to recruit, and to learn about noncooperation activities you can join. (The easiest way to find actions is often a simple Google search of your pillar – like “faith” or “health care”, the word “noncooperation” or “protest,” and your region.

Can we still get reimbursed for expenses?

Yes, the window of applying for expense reimbursement will be open until November 30, 2026. Apply here.

What do I tell my group?

We recommend you first consult with other leaders of your collective, if any, to determine how you would like to move forward. Once you have made your decision (for example, you might decide to join a local Indivisible group and continue the work within that community), you might forward our notification letter to your group. In your introduction, include your recommendation for how the team moves forward, and the means through which you’ll give members the opportunity to weigh in to make a final determination of your next steps. (Will you do an email poll? Or host a meeting?)
