  • Indivisible Statement on the Maine Senate Primary Results: Graham Platner Advances to the General Election

    Jun 9, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In May, six Indivisible groups across Maine formally endorsed Graham Platner and recommended him to Indivisible for our national endorsement. Shortly after, Indivisible endorsed Graham Platner in the U.S. Senate primary in Maine because at a moment when our communities are under attack, voters are demanding a Democratic Party willing to fight back. That demand is shaping the future of the party — and it starts in the primaries with candidates like Graham Platner.

Now, Graham Platner has officially become the Democratic nominee and will face Susan Collins in November in a key race to determine control of the U.S. Senate.

Graham Platner’s advancement to the general election demonstrates that voters are looking for leaders who are prepared to make real change and not settle for less. With Graham Platner as the nominee, we look towards November and focus our efforts on unseating Senator Susan Collins and ensuring a vital Democracy majority in the Senate.

“Tonight, voters have made their voices heard, and they are looking to fight back against special interests and push for new leadership this November. Far too long, status quo politicians have put the special interest before the voters of Maine, and as they continue to see the impacts of failed policies that drive up the cost of living and devastate their climate, voters have had enough.

“This result shows the momentum of voters who are choosing a different path and are looking for new leadership – one that will fight for them, not against them. As we look toward November, we are excited to flip this Senate seat, oust Sen. Susan Collins, and help Graham Platner bring meaningful representation to Maine,” said Ezra Levin, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible.

    Indivisible’s 2026 Primary Program

Last November, after Senate Democrats’ surrendered and voted to end the 41-day government shutdown without securing any commitments to lower health care costs or protect working families, Indivisible announced its largest primary program in the movement’s history. This program aims to turn the page on the failed leadership of Democrats like Senator Schumer, and identify and support fighters who will challenge feckless incumbents — to fight, not fold, in the face of fascism.

Indivisible will continue to work with local groups to support additional candidates in competitive primaries across the country. In the coming months, Indivisible will direct its network of activists, volunteers, and resources to help these endorsed candidates win their primaries, scaling phone banks, text programs, and canvassing efforts to unprecedented levels for the 2026 cycle.
