  • Indivisible-Endorsed Candidate Randy Villegas Advances to General Election in California’s 22nd Congressional District

    Jun 9, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In April, La Raza Indivisible formally endorsed Randy Villegas and recommended him to Indivisible for our national endorsement. Shortly after, Indivisible endorsed Randy Villegas in the U.S. House of Representatives primary in California’s 22nd congressional district because at a moment when our communities are under attack, voters are demanding a Democratic Party willing to fight back. That demand is shaping the future of the party — and it starts in the primaries with candidates like Randy Villegas.

Today, Randy Villegas secured a spot in the general election for California’s 22nd Congressional District and will face Rep. David Valadao in November in one of the nation’s most competitive House races.

Randy Villegas’ advancement to the general election is a major victory for working people in California’s Central Valley and for voters demanding a new generation of Democratic leadership. Born and raised in the district, Villegas has built his campaign around the challenges facing working families, refusing corporate PAC money and advocating for bold action to lower costs, protect democracy, and hold powerful interests accountable. His success in the primary demonstrates that voters are looking for leaders who will challenge the status quo rather than defend it.

“Tonight, voters in California’s 22nd district made clear that they want representation that answers to working people — not corporate donors, political insiders, or the consultants who have spent years telling Democrats to settle for less. Randy Villegas earned his place in the general election by running a campaign rooted in the Central Valley and focused on the needs of the community he calls home.

“This result is especially notable because it comes after the DCCC put their thumbs on the scale to elevate a corporate-funded opponent who repeatedly sided with Republicans on key issues and enjoyed the backing of party insiders. Voters chose a different path. Randy Villegas represents a new generation of leaders willing to challenge entrenched interests, stand up to extremism, and fight for the people too often left out of our political system. As we look toward November, we are proud to stand with Randy in the fight to flip this seat and deliver the representation the Central Valley deserves,” said Ezra Levin, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible.

    Indivisible’s 2026 Primary Program

Last November, after Senate Democrats’ surrendered and voted to end the 41-day government shutdown without securing any commitments to lower health care costs or protect working families, Indivisible announced its largest primary program in the movement’s history. This program aims to turn the page on the failed leadership of Democrats like Senator Schumer, and identify and support fighters who will challenge feckless incumbents — to fight, not fold, in the face of fascism.

Indivisible will continue to work with local groups to support additional candidates in competitive primaries across the country. In the coming months, Indivisible will direct its network of activists, volunteers, and resources to help these endorsed candidates win their primaries, scaling phone banks, text programs, and canvassing efforts to unprecedented levels for the 2026 cycle.
