The Declaration of Independence Banner Brigade will be returning to the Palisades (DC) July 4th Parade, building on our award-winning debut last year! Join us in carrying our handmade banners, featuring the iconic words of the Declaration ( banners can be carried easily by 1 person) . The cheers from the crowd were *amazing* last time, and we expect it to be even more special in honor of the 250th!
Our “Brigade” is an informal group of friends/neighbors and other volunteers who have come together numerous times in the past year–with the goal of raising awareness of the Declaration’s words, including our founders’ rejection of the abuse of executive powers. We maintain a non-partisan appearance to reflect the idea that the Declaration’s legacy belongs to everyone. Our group welcomes singletons, pairs, and even families (there are a couple of kid-sized banners)—it has been a fun way of meeting like-minded people.
An accurate headcount is essential for the Brigade to work smoothly, so if you register—which we hope you will!—we’ll be expecting you to definitely show up, unless you notify us ahead of time that your plans have changed (we understand that last-minute things arise). There are so many banners to carry that everyone who signs up plays an important role.
The lineup starts at 10 am and you’ll receive more logistical info after registering. Hope to see you there!
