Washington, D.C. — Today, Andrew O’Neill, National Advocacy Director of Indivisible, released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision allowing the Trump administration to move forward with parts of its effort to restrict mail voting:
“Donald Trump and his enablers will try everything in their power to rig the midterms and cling to power through minority rule. They know their allies could lose at the ballot box in November, so they are desperately trying to seize greater control over the rules and administration of our elections. But today’s ruling does not change any voter’s ability to cast a mail-in ballot. It is simply the latest maneuver in Trump’s campaign to sow chaos, undermine confidence in our elections, and give his administration more control over how Americans vote — especially those from historically marginalized communities.
“Today marks 10 weeks until the midterms. The most important thing you can do today is make your plan to vote — and make sure your friends and family are doing the same. The more votes we bank early, the harder it will be for Trump and his MAGA allies to interfere with the results. We will defeat their election sabotage because we are organized, we won’t be fooled by Trump’s chaos, and we will fight to protect our freedom to choose our leaders and ensure the will of the people prevails.”
