October 4-10 is Banned Books Week! Come learn more about Freedom of Expression and Banned Books at Capital Indivisible’s workshop at the Paul Sawyier Public Library on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 6-7:30.
In this workshop, we’ll discuss the meaning of the terms freedom of expression and censorship. We’ll consider what, if any, limitations it has or should have. How is it protected in the US and abroad? And why do we need a Banned Books Week? Finally, we’ll look at the issue through a human rights lens, and consider an action that aligns with Amnesty International USA’s Banned Book initiative.
