Washington, D.C. — Today, Andrew O’Neill, National Advocacy Director of Indivisible, released the following statement after the Senate cloture vote on the CLARITY Act failed:
“The Senate’s failure to advance the CLARITY Act is a step in the right direction, and a clear sign that crypto special interests can’t simply buy their way to a legislative win. Last year alone, Donald Trump pocketed $1.4 billion from crypto, and the industry has spent millions trying to buy influence in the 2026 elections to push legislation that would weaken oversight, leave consumers vulnerable to fraud and scams, and benefit industry insiders. But today, that effort failed.
“Today’s vote shows the power of people organizing and holding lawmakers accountable. Indivisible members and people across the country helped bring attention to a bill the crypto industry hoped would sail through quietly with broad Democratic support. That’s a loss for Trump, his family, and the special interests lining their pockets. And it’s a win for everyone who believes that our democracy should work for the people. Democrats must keep blocking this bill, reject crypto’s influence, and hold these elites accountable.”
