CD-5 is the most flippable red seat in Congress in Indiana – but we need YOUR help talking to voters to make that happen.
In 2022, Indiana had the LOWEST midterm voter turnout in the country at 40%. There is a pervasive sense of “Indiana is red and always will be.” But in truth:
**Indiana is a purple state that DOESN’T VOTE.**
We have the chance this month to use our votes to end the corruption. End the violence. End the lies. A House majority would give Democrats the ability to rein in Donald Trump.
And so…we are going on offense.
**Join one or more of our canvassing shifts to knock on doors in Congressional District 5 to help elect J.D. Ford.**
The voters we will canvass are just folks who need a little nudge to remind them to vote blue. You won’t be talking to anyone MAGA or hard right.
Democrat J.D. Ford is a well regarded and well liked sitting Indiana State Senator who is running against CD-5’s current congressperson, Republican Victoria Spartz, for the congressional seat just north of Indianapolis. Rep Spartz has a reliable voting record in support of Donald Trump’s agenda.
So what can you do?
**You can join us.**
If you haven’t canvassed before, we will make it easy. You show up for your shift at a meeting spot with a shift leader and other canvassers to get your voter addresses and instructions.
**Feeling shy, but you want to try it?**
Simply sign up for a canvassing shift and a link to a general training about talking to voters will be sent to you. We can pair you with another canvasser, or you can bring a friend to walk with you while you knock on doors.
Upon arrival at the meetup location, you will receive canvassing tips and JD Ford handouts to share at each door. You will be able to easily enter results as you canvass into the [MiniVAN app](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv9-HHb1VQA) on your smartphone.
A lot of canvassers like to make a fun day out of it: you can bring a friend and go out together for lunch or dinner after your shift. You can feel the satisfaction of doing your part for our democracy while getting in quality time with a friend. Win-win!
