  • Working People, Unions and the Fight Against Authoritarianism

    This a local Indivisible event!

What is the power of unions in strengthening the middle class and the fight against Trump and authoritarianism? How is Trump attacking workers’ rights, and how can we strengthen them here in Colorado?

Lauren Martens of the Colorado AFL CIO will explain potential benefits of the proposed Workers Protection Act to undo Colorado’s antiquated 1943 “right-to-work” law. The Colorado Legislature passed the WPA last year, but it was vetoed by Governor Polis.

Miles Batson of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) will speak to the devastating impact of Trump administration policies on federal workers. He’ll talk with us about the Protect America’s Workers Act to nullify a Trump executive order that stripped government workers of their union rights and to restore collective bargaining rights to over 1 million federal employees.

*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
