    You’re invited!!

As part of an initiative to help NH residents become more invested in candidates seeking elected office throughout the state, Southern NH Indivisible is hosting a series of Community Listening Sessions. Each session will feature a candidate running for office in the upcoming 2026 election, offering them a chance to reach voters in their homes.

We are very excited to announce Session #8, featuring John Vail, who is running for U.S. Senate.

    A brief introduction:

John Vail, of Easton, NH, is a lifelong advocate for peace, economic justice, and real democracy who is exploring a campaign for the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire. Grounded in decades of grassroots work, he centers his campaign on one core commitment: getting dark money out of politics so that government is accountable to people, not corporations. He pledges that, if elected, he will use his Senate vote to advance a clear “dark money out” agenda rather than personal or party priorities.

Vail’s public life began as a young GI at Fort Bragg, where he helped publish an anti‑war newspaper, organized protests against the Vietnam War, and counseled soldiers seeking discharge. He later led multiple church-based medical mission trips to a rural clinic in the mountains of Honduras, bringing doctors, medical students, and practical health-related projects to an underserved community. His theological formation at the Episcopal Divinity School, known for its commitments to feminist and liberation theologies and inclusion, deepened his conviction that public life must prioritize the poor and marginalized.

Professionally, Vail has split his time between hands-on work—carpentry and building a White Mountain bed-and-breakfast—and social services with court-referred clients, including incarcerated people, youth, and families. Long associated with the Congregational Church in Franconia, he continues to root his politics in community, conscience, and a belief that broad, cross-ideological majorities can unite to end the domination of big money in Washington.
