  • Organize May Day Strong in Morro Bay, California

    This a local Indivisible event!

Let’s work together to organize May Day Strong in Morro Bay, California.

This May Day, It’s Workers Over Billionaires.

On May 1, 2026, workers, students, and families rally, march, and take action across the country to demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual through No School. No Work. No Shopping.

Specifically, I’m looking for 10 people to help me canvas local businesses in Morro Bay. Please get in touch with me as soon as possible, and we can work together on this event.

There are three parts to this non-participation event:
    1. Spread the word.
    2. Non-participation on Mayday.
    3. Show appreciation on May 2.

Part 1. Spread the word. We canvass local businesses and provide them with signs to put in their windows explaining the closure. We also distribute flyers around town. We also spread the word on social media and through our own networks.

Part 2. Non-participation on Mayday, Friday, May 1st. We refrain from participating in business as usual. We don’t attend school. We don’t go to work. We don’t buy anything. We also survey the local businesses to see who is closed, in preparation for Part 3, the appreciation event.

(It would be possible to hold some kind of a public event on Mayday, if there is enough interest. However, I will be putting my efforts into organizing the May 2 Day of Appreciation.)

Part 3. Appreciation Day, May 2nd. We will widely publicize the brave business owners who closed and supported this non-participation event. We show up at these businesses and spend our money liberally and thank them personally for their courage and unity.

On May 2 we will hold a high visibility, public event – something more like a picnic party than a rally. (Lots of music, food, and games for the kids. Very brief speeches. No candidates or elected officials.) We will list and praise the business owners who closed on Mayday and show solidarity with all the people who helped to organize this wonderful event.

*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
