Apr 25

10:30 - 11:30 AM ET

  • Community Hosted
  • De-Ice Citizen’s Bank

April 25 is the ** Communities Not Cages: National Day of Action to Stop ICE Warehouse Detention ** to oppose the Trump administration’s expansion of ICE warehouse detention and its attack on the due process rights of immigrants and all Americans.

We currently do not have warehouse detention centers proposed in our region, but we DO have Citizens Banks, so that’s where we’re focusing our attention.

** Citizens Bank continues to be a major lender – the only major lender – to the country’s two largest private prison companies, CoreCivic and The GEO Group , ** running dozens of ICE immigration detention centers across the country. Through loans, bond underwriting and credit lines, the bank has played a key role in helping CoreCivic and The GEO Group access more $2.5 billion in financing over the past dozen years, some of it approved this year.

Citizens Bank says it is dedicated to fostering strong communities and social responsibility, but its long-standing support to prison companies and ICE detention centers is exactly the opposite. We need to hold the bank accountable.

Indivisible ADK/Saratoga (IAS) and Blue Line Indivisible (BLI) have previously joined in coalition to host two De-ICE Citizens Bank protests at the Citizens Bank in Queensbury, and this time, we have the Greater Capital Region joining in!

The Greater Capital Region Coalition is organizing protests at Citizens Bank branches in Albany County, Rensselaer County, and Schenectady County in addition to the protests being organized by IAS and BLI in Saratoga Springs and Queensbury : ** 10 protests in all! **

** Join us from 10:30-11:30 at either of these two Citizens Bank locations: **

** Saratoga Springs: ** 1 Ballston Ave. (Register on this page https://www.mobilize.us/indivisibleadksaratoga/event/936551/)

** Queensbury: ** 756 Upper Glen St. at Queensbury Plaza.

*This action is part of the Communities Not Cages National Day of Action organized by the Disappeared In America campaign and partners including Detention Watch Network, Public Citizen, The Workers Circle, MoveOn and many others.*

** A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. ** We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

** Join the weekly Saratoga Springs vigil, Saturday, 12 noon, at the Post Office, immediately following this event **

*Indivisible ADK/Saratoga is a local chapter of [Indivisible](http://Indivisible.org), active in NY’s Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties, that welcomes people with our shared values and goals. We organize and mobilize for actions that safeguard and advocate for vulnerable communities, protect human rights, guard our planet, elect progressive candidates, and protect democracy. We are committed to non-violence as a guiding principle in everything we do.*
