A son of the Central Valley, Randy has dedicated his life to giving back to the community that raised him and fighting for his neighbors.
Randy is the child of hard working Mexican immigrants. Despite that hard work, his family still struggled, needing the support of Medicaid and food stamps to make ends meet. Growing up in Bakersfield, Randy also watched as elected officials turned a blind eye to the disproportionate rates of asthma and cancer in the Central Valley, and allowed corporate polluters to escape accountability. It was these formative experiences that pushed Randy to become an educator and community organizer, and empower his hard working neighbors to make change.Â
Randy’s close community ties have given him a deep, personal understanding of the impact of bad policy, the costs of not fighting back, and what’s on the chopping block in Trump’s Washington, and is running for Congress to fight for working families like his. He’s committed to holding corporate polluters responsible, establishing universal family leave and child care, introducing congressional term limits, and taking on Trump policies that led to programs such as SNAP, WIC, and Medicare being slashed so the regime’s billionaire enablers can enjoy tax cuts. Randy is also the only candidate in this race who’s committed to not taking a dime from corporate PACs.
Randy’s emphasis on making life more affordable for working families while also fighting the Trump regime’s corruption and the go-along-to-get-along status quo are clear indicators that he’s the bold challenger his future constituents need in Congress.Â
La Raza Indivisible endorsed Randy Villegas because, in the battle against fascism, we need leaders like him. We’re proud to stand with La Raza Indivisibles to support Villegas in his run to be the next Representative for California’s 22nd district.
