Another Way to Have Your Say: Public Comments

In this online workshop, you will learn how to write and submit public comments (it’s easy!).

The Trump administration is using its regulatory power to gut environmental and human rights, suppress access to the vote, and more. This process bypasses Congress entirely.

BUT We the People have a powerful tool for countering these moves: Public Comments. Regulatory agencies are legally required to review, respond to, and consider substantive comments AND public comments are admissible as evidence in court cases.

At least SIX harmful regulation proposals have comment deadlines in the month following this workshop:
1. A USPS proposal limiting ballot delivery to voters on a FEDERAL voting list.
2. A Housing & Urban Development rule that MANDATES discrimination based on gender.
3. A rollback of prior EPA limits on “forever chemicals” (PFAS) chemicals in drinking water.
4. Elimination of a Security & Exchange Commission rule“that would have required public companies to report greenhouse gas emissions and climate-related risks to their operations.”

By submitting public comments, you will slow down the enactment of bad regulations such as these, and provide evidence for lawsuits challenging those regulations. BOTH outcomes have proven effective!
