The next No Kings Day is coming
The next No Kings Day will be different. Join the No Kings kickoff call this Thursday, 9/10 at 8pm ET/5pm PT to learn about the national day of voter participation being planned for this October.
Welcome to ARC’s (Antiracist Conversations) 12-week Virtual Read-Around Book Club.
We will read Isabel Wilkerson’s book, The Warmth of Other Suns, which tells the epic story of America’s Great Migration.
Our book club uses a unique format called a “Virtual Read-Around.”
No reading ahead is required: we will meet every Tuesday from September 8 through December 15, 2026, to read and experience Isabel Wilkerson’s The Warmth of Other Suns live as a group.
The book club will be facilitated by Jan, Pat, and Ms. Evelyn.
Together on live video, we will open each session with greetings and an icebreaker, and then we will read the book out loud.
There will be no verbal discussion during our weekly live meetings.
Important Note: Space is limited to 20 participants. Registering for all book club meetings at once is the best plan.
If you register and determine that you are unable to attend, please cancel your Mobilize registration so we can open your spot to someone else.
Weekly Meeting Schedule
We will meet every Tuesday for 90 minutes from September 8 through December 15, 2026. Find your local time zone below:
Pacific Time (PT): 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Mountain Time (MT): 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
Central Time (CT): 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Eastern Time (ET): 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Meeting Timeline Breakdown
Every session follows this exact 90-minute structure (listed in Central Time):
10:00 AM – 10:10 AM: Open Zoom room, greetings, icebreaker, and tech check.
10:10 AM – 11:25 AM: Read out loud together as a group for 75 minutes.
11:25 AM – 11:30 AM: Wrap up and log off.
Reading and Journal Steps
We will cover about 30 to 35 pages together each week.
Confirm your attendance for the series by September 2, 2026.
We’ll email additional information after you’ve confirmed your participation.
Catching Up: If we do not finish the designated pages during our live read-around, please finish those specific pages on your own before the next Tuesday session.
Write Notes: After completing the weekly block, spend 10 to 15 minutes writing in a private journal while your thoughts are completely fresh.
Final Gathering: We will meet on Tuesday, December 15, at our usual session time for a final virtual gathering to share ideas from our journals and have a full verbal discussion.
