Have you been hearing about “Flock Cameras” and how they are watching us? We are hosting an information session, “ALPR 101” to educate ourselves and our community.
Flock is part of automated license plate recognition or ALPR for short, that automatically scans, retains license plate information & other data of passing vehicles. These ALPR’s are more sophisticated that traditional traffic cameras. Some of them like Flock, capture & store data about: your car’s make & model, the location & time of the picture was taken, scratches & dents, & accessories like bumper stickers, bike racks.
This data ALSO has the potential to reveal more private information about us like : visits to religious centers, protests, health care visits (abortion clinics) & gun stores. This surveillance could give insight into our beliefs, politics & health.
