  • Desert Democracy May Monthly Meeting

At our May Monthly Meeting, we’re joined by Nancy Marshall, author of **Six Who Stopped the Steal**, a compelling and deeply reported account of the six elected officials who played a decisive role in protecting the integrity of the 2020 election in Maricopa County.

Through in-depth, first-hand interviews, Nancy brings to life the stories of these public servants—five Republicans and one Democrat—who upheld the rule of law in the face of intense pressure. The book explores not just what they did, but why—tracing the personal values, early influences, and defining moments that shaped their commitment to integrity.

Nancy will share insights from the book, reflect on the importance of courage and accountability in our election systems, and discuss how everyday people can get involved in strengthening democracy ahead of the 2026 elections.

This is a unique opportunity to hear a behind-the-scenes perspective on one of the most critical moments in Arizona’s recent political history—and to explore what it means to stand up for democracy when it matters most.
