This event is one of 16+ events participating in a statewide day of action to protest immigrant detention centers in Indiana. It will address the nearby detention center commonly referred to as the “Speedway Slammer.”
May is when all eyes are on the Speedway in Indianapolis, and this event will have increased visibility. Join us as we say NO to unjustly detaining our immigrant friends and neighbors.
For this event, please plan to stand with our group at the southwest corner of 16th street and Main Street in Speedway (the roundabout near the Brickyard). We will have a banner and will be easy to spot. Arrive early to find street or lot parking nearby.
– Over 70% of ICE detainees have never been convicted of a crime.
– ICE detainees at Miami Correctional Facility report medical neglect.
– Two ICE detainees have died at Miami Correctional Facility in 2026.
– Due to Illegal Detention, ICE Detainees have been forced to file Habeas petitions in federal court — overwhelming federal courts.
