  • From Group Chats to Grassroots Power: Organizing with Signal & WhatsApp

Join Indivisible and [D-Hub](https://dhub.org/), a global democracy defense organization, for a practical training on how organizers across the world are using Signal and WhatsApp to build stronger, safer, more effective grassroots movements.

Whether you’re mobilizing rapid response networks, coordinating immigrant defense efforts, or growing local community power, the tools you use matter. In this session, you’ll learn how to strategically use Signal and WhatsApp together to organize securely, communicate at scale, and strengthen your local campaigns.

    We’ll cover:

    – Strengths and weaknesses of both apps: Signal as the gold standard for secure organizing in high-risk contexts, WhatsApp as the best option for broader reach
    – Best practices for protecting your community while organizing around nonviolent activities that range from ICE and detention center response, to mass mobilization
    – How WhatsApp’s widespread adoption and layered structure make it a powerful tool for distributed organizing
    – Lessons from successful peaceful pro-democracy and anti-authoritarian movements around the world
    – Security tradeoffs, organizing strategies, and practical tips you can start using immediately

You’ll leave with concrete tools, real-world examples, and a stronger understanding of how to build resilient digital organizing spaces that help your community take action safely and effectively.

_A core principle behind all Indivisible activities is a commitment to lawful nonviolent action._
