  • Greater Capital Region Coalition & ALBANY PRIDE PARADE: PRIDE is Resistance!

Known as the largest Pride celebration in New York State outside of New York City, Albany’s Capital Pride Parade and Festival dates back to 1997.

But events leading up to this annual celebration began 25 years prior when the oldest, continuously operating pride center in the nation, the Pride Center of the Capital Region, first opened its doors in 1970. The mission of the Pride Center of the Capital Region is to promote the well-being of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer-identified people and those affected by discrimination based on gender identity and expression. The Center is continually working to build a welcoming and empowering community for all people.

This year the Greater Capital Region Coalition (Upstate NY Progressive Activists) and DeFLOCK518 proudly join our LGBTQ+ community to parade & celebrate our common goal of Equality for All.

There are 13 groups in the coalition. Each group has selected a PRIDE FLAG color to wear (RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE or PURPLE). You will receive an email with your group color. If you are not affiliated with a group, you are free to wear any of the Pride colors.

    This June 14th, 2026 commemorates
    1. PRIDE–a beacon of the struggle for EQUALITY
    2. Flag Day–to strive for a MORE PERFECT UNION
    3. The Anniversary of the 1st No KINGS RALLY

The Coalition and DeFLOCK518 represent thousands of activists in the Capital Region. We reject the tyrant in the White House and his narcissistic insanity. Let’s unite together on this day to show our strength in numbers and demand the Humane Treatment of All People.

    PRIDE is Resistance!

    This a local Indivisible event!
*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
