This a local Indivisible Corning Elmira event!
This weekend, we’ll gather for a candlelight vigil. We will convene at Centerway Square in Corning, and walk silently across the pedestrian bridge and back (approximately 0.5 mile), finishing at Centerway Square.
We will mourn Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero, Juan Jairo Coronilla Durán, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, Nolan Xavier Wells and all those who’ve been taken away from us by ICE & Border Patrol, the reckless war in Iran, or racial hate.
We will honor their lives, and hold their families, coworkers, and communities in our hearts.
And together, we’ll move from mourning into action: demanding full and independent investigations, the release and protection of witnesses, the end of all local and state collaboration with ICE, and for Congress to use their oversight and funding authority to hold ICE, DHS, and all complicit individuals of this regime to account.
We will not stop fighting until our communities are safe from the regime’s hate and violence & everyone from the individual agents to the leaders who direct them is held accountable.
*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
