# Many Flags, One Humanity
## A Mass Mobilization at Otay Mesa Detention Center

**people removed from San Diego County since January — one in every 200 San Diegans.**
Most were never convicted of any crime. Many were following legal immigration processes when detained. Now thousands are being held inside a dangerously overcrowded detention center operating far beyond capacity — in conditions no human being should endure.
This is happening here. In our community. In our name.
**We refuse to normalize cruelty. We refuse to look away.**
On Flag Day, we gather outside Otay Mesa Detention Center to send a message the people inside can hear loud and clear: *You are not forgotten.*
We are immigrants. We are descendants of immigrants. We are people who believe democracy means human dignity, due process, and freedom from fear.

Your Pride flag • your U.S. flag • your Indigenous flag • your Palestinian flag • your Ukrainian flag • your upside-down flag.
Bring signs, drums, art, and your voice.

## This Is Not Just a Protest
It is a public act of solidarity and resistance. Let’s levitate the walls and exorcise the evil within.
Together we will attempt something symbolic, joyful, and defiant: a Mass **”Levitation”** of the detention center — hundreds of people joining hands and directing collective energy of hope, love, and intention toward those locked inside.
Because authoritarianism depends on silence. And we intend to be impossible to ignore.
There will be **music, chanting, tamales, snacks, art, community activities, and a children’s space** with flag-making and creative resistance projects.

Participants are expected to:
– Refrain from any acts of violence, property destruction, or provocation toward others, including law enforcement and counter-demonstrators.
– Treat fellow participants, bystanders, and community members with dignity and respect.
– Follow the guidance of trained peacekeepers and event organizers.
– De-escalate tensions if they arise and alert peacekeepers rather than engaging directly.
