MAY DAY STRONG TUCSON PLANNING MEETING

    When: Sunday, April 5 | 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Where: Virtual via Zoom (Link provided upon RSVP)

    THE MOMENT IS NOW

Eight million people took to the streets for No Kings 3, proving that the heart of democracy is still beating. But to protect the upcoming elections from the threat of cancellation, we must move from symbolic protest to sustained noncooperation.

Following the national roadmap laid out by Indivisible, MoveOn, and our major labor unions, Tucson is stepping up for May Day Strong on Friday, May 1. This isn’t just a march—it’s a city-wide call for No Work, No School, and No Shopping.

    WHY WE’RE MEETING

To make “business as usual” impossible on May 1st, we need organized, grassroots leadership across every sector of our community. This Sunday, we are moving into our Working Group Phase to coordinate strategy for:

Labor & Unions: Working with with members and their families.

Schools & Teachers: Organizing student and faculty participation.

Spiritual Communities: Engaging congregations in the moral call to action.

Businesses & Neighborhoods: Gaining commitments to close shops and organize local blocks.

    YOUR ROLE

Whether you are a seasoned organizer or this is your first time getting involved, we need your voice. At this meeting, we will:

Provide a brief briefing on the national strategy.

Break out into sector-specific working groups.

Assign concrete outreach tasks to ensure the Tucson May Day Pledge reaches every corner of our city.

“Research shows it takes this level of noncooperation to thwart an authoritarian takeover. We must be ready.”

Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link. If you cannot attend but still want to join a working group, please fill out the form so we can contact you with next steps.
