  • May Day! Workers over Billionaires: A Nationwide Day of Action

The next National Day of Action is right around the corner, May Day, Friday, May 1st.

The national call is for no business as usual. This will look different in different places. In some locations, it will mean no work, no school, and no shopping. (Read about May Day nationwide here: https://indivisible.org/campaigns/may-day-participation-guide/ .)

In Anne Arundel County, we are marking the day by joining with several community groups, including TAAAC (Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County), to host 11 protests, each near an AA County high school, and all from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Chesapeake Indivisible is sponsoring a sign-waving protest on the sidewalks around the Annapolis Mall.

Many of us will also honor the No Shopping Pledge by shopping only at small local businesses that day (no big box stores, no online shopping).

Join us! Sign up here on Mobilize for the Annapolis Mall sidewalk protest.

Or, sign up for one of the 10 other AA County protests here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1n-s766TtgNGG7C1tdF923Ipe538ySZE&ll=38.94400700000001%2C-76.56058529999999&z=11

Note that our usual Saturday 11 AM protest in the same location will still occur on Saturday, May 2nd.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.
