We will be standing on the public sidewalk at the intersection of Town Center Drive and Harden Boulevard. Bring your best sign or banner, and don’t forget your signing voice! We normally gather on this Saturday for our Abolish ICE demonstrations, but today we will be gathering for No Kings.

So many bad decisions have been coming out of D.C. and Tallahassee, as Trump and the mini-Trump, DeSantis, consolidate power away from The People. Checks and balances are supposed to prevent what we’re seeing now, but those checks and balances need YOU. The institutions meant to empower the people need your participation to keep going.

This is not just one day, this is an opportunity to get connected with a local Invisible chapter so you can organize further. It’s not about what you do at the protest, it’s what you take home and what you do after that makes a difference.

When you arrive, please check the Welcome Wagon (on the corner outside Louis Pappas) for flyers, pamphlets, and general information. If you have been feeling like you don’t know where to begin, then this day is a good start.

As Floridians, we want what is promised to us in both our State and national Constitutions: freedom from government overreach and the general well-being of our people. For Floridians especially that means home rule. Look at how the state leaders Tallahassee are taking away our rights to regulate our water, our air, and our environment. The Trump Administration takes money away from health care, yet pours it into investing in AI surveillance. Floridians can’t get rent control, yet Trump and DeSantis cronies get tax breaks so they can build their third and fourth mansion in Florida and play land speculation. This trickles down to us with the Florida Legislature passing laws to restrict the ability of cities and counties to regulate overdevelopment. Our farmers are being pushed out to build AI data centers and toll roads. Our Aquifer is being polluted so a billionaire can get to space. Flock cameras are popping up all over our County. A billionaire gets millions of gallons of water to build their detention center, work on their AI startup, or create a starship, while the rest of us are being forced to ration it.

These politicians are meant to be public servants. They work for us, but they don’t act like it. Even our Polk County Commission is restricting the rights of our residents to make public comments at commission meetings.

We know that trickle-down economics does not work. The only thing trickling down from D.C. is corruption. They are polluting Florida literally and figuratively.

On the day of the event, please observe the following safety instruction:

– Do not stand in front of pedestrian push buttons.
**DO** maintain a clear right of way for pedestrians crossing at the curbs.

– Do not block the sidewalk.
**DO** stand in a single file along the edge of the sidewalk and step aside when you hear a signal that a pedestrian or biker is coming through.

– Do not engage with hecklers, counter-demonstrators, right-wing trolls, anyone that attempts to harass you with a camera or microphone in your face.

Como floridanos, queremos lo que se nos promete en nuestras Constituciones estatal y nacional: libertad frente al exceso del gobierno y el bienestar general de nuestra gente. Para los floridanos, eso significa especialmente el control local. Mira cómo los líderes estatales en Tallahassee nos están quitando el derecho a regular nuestra agua, nuestro aire y nuestro medio ambiente. La Administración Trump quita dinero a la atención médica y lo invierte en vigilancia con inteligencia artificial. En Florida no podemos tener control de alquileres, mientras los aliados de Trump y DeSantis reciben exenciones de impuestos para construir su tercera y cuarta mansión en Florida y especular con tierras. Esto nos afecta directamente cuando la Legislatura de Florida aprueba leyes que limitan la capacidad de las ciudades y los condados para regular el desarrollo excesivo. Nuestros agricultores están siendo desplazados para construir centros de datos de IA y carreteras de peaje. Nuestro acuífero está siendo contaminado para que un multimillonario pueda ir al espacio. Cámaras Flock están apareciendo por todo nuestro condado. Un multimillonario recibe millones de galones de agua para construir un centro de detención, trabajar en su empresa de IA o crear una nave espacial, mientras al resto de nosotros nos obligan a racionarla.

Estos políticos deberían ser servidores públicos. Trabajan para nosotros, pero no actúan así. Incluso la Comisión del Condado de Polk está restringiendo el derecho de los residentes a hacer comentarios públicos en las reuniones.

Sabemos que la economía del “goteo” no funciona. Lo único que gotea desde D.C. es corrupción. Están contaminando a Florida, literal y figuradamente.
