Indivisible Boldly Blue, IndivisibleGA10, and other partners are calling on our community to show up and speak out at a peaceful rally in front of the historic Walton County Courthouse, across from Congressman Mike Collins’s district office.
Congressman Collins says he has a close relationship with ICE officials. We are demanding that he use that influence to stop the creation of what would be the largest federal prison in Georgia. This proposed ICE detention center in Social Circle would warehouse 8,500 to 10,000 people in a converted industrial warehouse inside the limits of a town with just 5,000 residents.
This is wrong for Social Circle. Wrong for families. Wrong for Georgia.
This ICE facility would more than triple the town’s population overnight, overwhelming water and sewer systems, straining public safety, and permanently altering a small community without its consent. It would sit within a mile of a brand-new elementary school.
Stand with Walton County as we refuse to let a warehouse prison define this town’s future.
